A special cultural evening was inaugurated by His Excellency the Governor of Orissa, Mr. M. C. Bhandare at KISS campus on 12th March 2008. The students of this largest tribal school in the country presented vibrant performing art forms, which included Sambalpuri dance, classical dance and the tribal dance of Paraja tribe of Koraput. His Excellency the Governor spent generous amount of time enjoying the programme.
He also inaugurated a primitive tribal house of Lanjia Saura tribe in the KISS campus. Speaking to the students of KISS, he said that it was his wish to visit this institution for the past few months and he was happy to visit them and interact with them on this occasion. We have to learn a great deal from the tribals, he said. Recalling the U14 Rugby World Cup winning feat of the students of this school, he expressed confidence that the students of this school will make the state and the country proud on many more occasions. He congratulated Founder Secretary of KISS, Dr. A. Samanta for taking this novel initiative for the tribal children.
Earlier Dr. Samanta extended a warm welcome to His Excellency the Governor and expressed gratitude to him for sparing valuable time for the students of KISS.
Speaking on the occasion, Tourism Secretary, Govt. of Orissa, Mr. Parag Guta, IAS said that KISS has aroused curiosity of intellectuals in the country and abroad. Each successful person in the society should sponsor a student of this school, he suggested, adding that this will enable the students to scale new heights. Noted social worker, Padmashree, Tulasi Munda and President, KIIT Society, Mrs Saswati Bal also attended the cultural programme and encouraged the students.
